Good morning Sunburnt Savers! Happy Easter, Passover, and Spring! I hope you’re all enjoying this beautiful spring (or summer, if you’re in Phoenix ;)) day and getting out and enjoying the weather.
I realized I hadn’t posted a weekly update/link love post in a while, and I had to get back to it. One thing I’m going to incorporate in some of these weekly updates is fun search terms people have used to find my blog. I really like it when other bloggers talk about what search terms people have used to find their blogs, so when I started seeing funny search terms pop up for my blog, I had to share them with you!
Sunburnt Saver Searches
Here are some fun ways people found me over the past week, and I’ll try to answer these searchers’ questions – or comments?
How to cash a mystery shopper check and get away with it – I’m not really sure how you came into possession of a mystery shopper’s check, but if it’s not yours… I’m not really sure how you can cash it without any ID. And even if I did know how to cash a check without an ID, I wouldn’t share it here 🙂
Why textbroker won’t make you rich – This query likely led this person to one of my most popular posts, 3 Side Hustles You Can Start This Year. Like I mention in the post, you won’t get “rich” from writing for Text Broker, or taking surveys, but sites like Text Broker can help launch your freelance writing career. You should check out Text Broker if you’re a good writer and can write quickly. If you’re not sure freelance writing is for you, it’s a great way to test the waters and make a little extra money.
How to avoid sunburns at Christmas – great question for a Sunburnt Saver! 🙂 I am a little perplexed, considering Christmastime in the northern hemisphere is usually cold and dark, but no matter where you are and what you’re doing: sunscreen. Apply sunscreen to your face and any other exposed parts of your body if you want to avoid a sunburn. If you can, wear long sleeved clothing and a hat, especially if you’re going to be outside for a long time.
Those were some of the fun searches I got this week – I’m finally starting to get random search traffic like this from Google, which I love. I don’t care exactly how people got to Sunburnt Saver, just that they’re getting here 🙂
The Week in Sunburnt Saver
This week I covered my March recap and April savings (and life) goals. Not too shabby on savings this month! On Wednesday, I directed you over to my recent post at Your PF Pro, where I talk about my sweet new FitBit and apps/websites that will reward you for being healthy.
On Thursday, I started my April Financial Literacy Series, Budgeting 101. I covered why it’s important to budget, even if you think you don’t make enough to budget. I promise, even on minimum wage, you can still budget… it might not be pretty, but setting up and sticking to a budget will help in the long run!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this series as we go along, too. I’d like to make series related to finance and saving a regular monthly thing, so if you have any suggestions, criticism, etc., I’d love to hear it!
This week, Kali gave us an awesome Tax Starter Kit for Side Income Earners. This is a must have even if you earn a small amount from regular freelance/side hustle jobs. Unfortunately, the government wants all of your money, all of the time, so it’s best to stay on the right side of the law when running your side hustle. Luckily, Kali’s post and kit is extremely helpful and easy to understand. Even if you’re not hustling yet, download her kit and keep it handy!
Sarah from The Frugal Millionaire has started a new website! Become a Freelance Writer is Sarah’s new site, and I can’t wait to see it develop. Sarah is a talented and prolific freelance writer, so with her new site, you’ll definitely learn good strategies to becoming an effective freelance writer. Check it out!
Speaking of freelancing, Tre covers the key to successful freelancing in her recent post. She also challenges us to improve our side hustle game. I have to admit, this is not one of my strong suits, so I’m excited to try her challenge!
Have a great rest of your weekend, and see you on Tuesday for the second installment of Budgeting 101!
